Critical Incident Stress Management Class

Aug 15 2008 - 8:30am
Aug 16 2008 - 4:30pm

Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support

Crisis intervention is sometimes called "emotional first-aid."  Crisis interventions are typically done individually (one-on-one) or in groups. This program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of, and a specific protocol for, individual intervention.  Crisis intervention is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialized training. It is not psychotherapy.  As physical first-aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy.

The audience for this class includes chaplains, clergy, laity, emergency services, law enforcement, military, and business/industrial peer support personnel without formal training in mental health, as well as mental health professionals, who desire to increase their knowledge of individual (one-on-one) crisis intervention techniques.

All Colorado Disaster Relief team members will receive the $100 discounted rate, and may even receive a $20 rebate based on the number of paid registration by July 22. All disaster relief chaplains and Blue Caps are encouraged to complete this course. This course is a requirement for those who seek denominational (NAMB) endorsement as disaster relief chaplains.
