Colorado Baptists give record amount for state missions

Colorado Baptists contributed a record amount to the 2007 Nicy Murphy State Missions Offering.

An unprecedented $182,099 was given to support missions in Colorado - a 22 percent increase from 2006 and exceeding the goal of $150,000.

According to Colorado Baptist General Convention Executive Director Mark Edlund, much of the offering was distributed in January to assist churches with mission projects; 33 percent of the offering was shared with local Baptist associations for missions in their communities.

"On behalf of the Colorado Baptist General Convention and the 11associations, we praise the Lord for the faithful giving of Colorado Baptists," Edlund said.

The 2008 Nicy Murphy Week of Prayer for State Missions will be observed September 7-14, though offering contributions can be made at any time throughout the year.  This year's theme is "See the Colorado mission field through the eyes of Jesus," with a state-wide goal of $200,000.  Promotional materials are being produced and will be mailed to churches.
