The Democratic National Convention (DNC) will be in Denver August 25-28, 2008. The Office of Emergency Management for Denver and other agencies in the City are making plans to respond in case of a terrorist attack, forest fires, or a weather related emergency. The Colorado Baptist Disaster Relief Team is involved in the emergency preparedness planning, and will be on "Stand-by" in order to respond at a moment's notice to an emergency.
In preparation for our participation in these plans, there will be training and orientation on May 24th at the Mile High Baptist Association, July 12 at Riverside Baptist Church, and August 24th at Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church. Training in May and July will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - one day only.Training on August 24th will be from 2-6 p.m.
This is different from our normal training schedule as it will be specific to the needs of the DNC exercise. This training will be presented in conjunction with "Love Denver", the Mile High Baptist Association project to reach out to Denver, visitors, first responders, and security personnel connected to the Democratic National Convention.
To register for this training, contact Kris Franklin at kfranklin@cbgc.org or 303-771-2480 x 228. The cost is $20 per person for new trainees, and free for anyone who is renewing their training. If your training is older than 2 years old, you need to be retrained.
