This has been a very active spring in terms of weather across the country from a dry west, rocky mountain tonados to an overly wet Mid-West. through it all Southern Baptist Disaster Relief has been in the midst of it all.  As Colorado Baptist Disaster Relief we have had opportunity to serve our own here in Colorado, but the needs are far from over:

Disaster Relief Support for the Democratic National Convention

Colorado Baptists have been given a huge opportunity to make a kingdom impact during a national event right here in our own backyard. As you are fully aware, I am sure, Denver will be hosting the Democratic National Convention this summer  and we have opportunities for service during and around this event. Our disaster relief organization has been asked to be a part of a historic partnership between non-profit, religious and Governmental agencies.

Mid-West Flooding Updates

Southern Baptist Disaster relief is mobilized and meeting needs in the upper Mid-West at this time.  As flooding continues to inundate the Mid-West, particularly the Mississippi Valley area, we as Colorado Baptist Distaster Relief are preparing for the prospect of helping our neighbors to the east as they begin the recovery process.

Colorado Baptist's Respond to Winsdor Tornado

Disaster Relief

27-MAY-CLOSING ACTION-Tonight at 1800hrs (6pm) the American Red Cross Disaster Coordinator for Windsor has released the CBGC DR Feeding Unit.  Since activation Saturday morning, Colorado Disaster Relief has prepared well over 6000 meals, assisted with 26 chainsaw projects, and cared spiritually for over 2100 contacts with our DR Chaplains.  There were 90+ volunteer shifts recorded for this event.

I want to extend my appreciation for your patience, service and prayer during our deployment in support of our relief efforts with the Red Cross.  As our first real deployment as a Disaster Relief organization, I would count this a very good, God honoring response.  We will continue to evaluate and learn from this experience as we build bridges with the Red Cross, Salvation Army, government and other non-government service agencies.
I would encourage you to keep your Disaster Relief training and involvement current and consider involvement this summer in the DR staging or the Mile High Bapt Associations "Love Denver" projects as we seek to be available for other needs across our state and around the country.
